More than 1,000 Crawfish-lovers join Deanie’s for Pinch-A-Palooza 2012

3rd-annual Crawfish celebration benefits Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation, draws 1,000+ Crawfish-lovers for Rebirth Brass Band, 610 Stompers, Dutch Alley Art Market & more

METAIRIE, LA.–(April 25, 2012)–With live music, an artists market, the 610 Stompers and more Crawfish than you can shake a stick at, Deanie’s Seafood in Bucktown delivered a fun afternoon of food, music and revelry during the third-annual  Pinch-A-Palooza Festival & Crawfish Eating Contest. Festival-goers pinched 1,000 lbs. of Seasoned boiled Crawfish during the event!

Deanie’s Seafood in Bucktown, 1713 Lake Ave., Metairie, converted the restaurant parking lot and adjacent street into a free family friendly street party to Celebrate Earth Day and Pinch d’at Tail–a portion of the proceeds from Pinch-A-Palooza 2012 benefited the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation, which works to conserve the 10,000-square-mile Lake Pontchartrain Watershed. Performing were New Orleans six-piece electro-pop band Big History,  jazz-inflected vocalist Nasimiyu, and Grammy-award winners Rebirth Brass Band. Pinch-A-Palooza also welcomed nine artists from the Dutch Alley Artist’s Co-op, showcasing their works featuring Louisiana seafood.

Deanie’s partnered with Cumulus Media of New Orleans, WGNO TV ABC 26 and WNOL TV NOLA38, Where Y’at magazine, the 610 Stompers and the Dutch Alley Artist’s Co-op to deliver this year’s crawfish celebration. Seven teams competed to be named the winners of the Pinch-A-Palooza 2012 Crawfish Eating Contest. The First Place team was Deanie’s Seafood–eating more than 10 lbs. of Crawfish meat in just 10 minutes–made up of four contestants who entered to win a space representing the restaurant.  In second place, the 610 Stompers “610 Domination”!  Other teams included Where Y’at magazine and contest winners from four Cumulus radio stations–Old School 106.7 FM, Power 102.9 FM, Rock 92.3 FM and The Ticket Sports Radio 106.1 FM.

Plans are already underway for Pinch-A-Palooza 2013, which is scheduled for Sunday, April 21, 2013!

“We are going to make Pinch-A-Palooza bigger each year!,” said Darren Chifici of Deanie’s Seafood. “Pinch-A-Palooza is fast becoming the best celebration of Crawfish in southeast Louisiana.”
