The Save Our Lake & Coast Fishing Rodeo is June 1 and June 2, and kicks off a weekend of fun-filled Back to the Beach festivities in Laketown (Kenner), including live performances by some of New Orleans best bands, a motorcycle rally, car show, arts and crafts, children’s activities and food from local restaurants.

The Fishing Rodeo Awards will be presented Sat., June 2 during the Back to the Beach Festival with Honorary Rodeo Chair Karen Swensen.

Deanie’s partnered with Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation earlier this year, donated a portion of the proceeds raised during its third-annual Pinch-A-Palooza Festival & Crawfish Eating Contest to the Foundation. The crawfish celebration brought more than 1,000 participants to celebrate Louisiana’s favorite crustacean at Deanie’s original location in Bucktown, located at 1713 Lake Ave., Metairie. The Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation, works to conserve the 10,000-square-mile Lake Pontchartrain Watershed, an important ecosystem for local fishermen industry.
